Biosketch
I am a Pulmonology Consultant, I work in a Respiratory Intensive Care Unit for 15 years besides that I run a Bronchiectasis outpatient clinic. I also work in the Cystic Fibrosis Reference Centre and in a severe asthma outpatient clinic at Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte (CHULN).
My research is focused on obstructive airways diseases and Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator mutations and produced several peer-reviewed publications. Participated as PI or co-Investigator on several clinical trials in Bronchiectasis, Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma and COPD. I worked as Coordinator and Secretary of the Bronchiectasis Working Comission of the Portuguese Respiratory Society, organizing several scientific national and iberian meetings.
Currently I’m a member of the scientific committee that manages the National Bronchiectasis Registry. Regarding academic functions I’m Teaching Assistant of Pulmonology in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon since 2003 and concerning post graduate formation. I’m currently Medical Internship Board Advisor in CHULN, coordinating the training of more than 500 residents.
Testimony
My PhD application was recently accepted, so IMM became a major challenge that fascinates and stimulates me to discover new pathways in my career.
