I was always very passionate about sciences and my path, so far, is a consequence of this passion. In 2011, I came from Castelo Branco to Lisbon to study Biochemistry in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, where I got my master’s degree in 2016. In the meantime, I started working at iMM in 2015, in Professor Miguel Castanho’s Lab, where I performed the experimental work for my master thesis. After this experience with scientific research, especially with biomedical sciences and biophysics, I clearly knew that I had to pursue this academic path for a bit longer.

In 2017, I initiated my PhD in Professor Miguel Castanho’s Lab and I’m currently finishing my thesis. My PhD project was focused on using extracellular vesicles as drug delivery systems for metastatic breast cancer. I’m presently working in the pharma industry.

Testimony

I am very thankful for the opportunity to have had my academic path happening at iMM. This is a great place to work with an amazing scientific and friendly environment. This experience made me stronger, more resilient, and more hopeful. This is not only the result of the experience in scientific research, but also the result of being part of a scientific community with so many amazing works, projects, and initiatives.

I had also the chance to meet incredible scientists and wonderful people that I’m taking with me, for life, as friends. I enjoyed every single moment of this experience and I’m now getting inspired by it every day.
