Later, I joined iMM PhD program as an external student. I did my PhD in Biomedical Sciences, in a project related to mechanisms of regeneration in vertebrates, using Zebrafish as a model. In 2015, I joined the Fish Platform at Champalimaud Foundation, first as a technician and since 2019 as the Fish Platform Manager. Among my current responsibilities are the management of the aquaculture activities for 3 fish species and the management of related scientific services, including a colony management programme for more than 200 fish lines, generation of transgenic and mutant fish lines, assisted reproduction techniques, optimization of husbandry protocols, technical research support.

I am also a member of the Champalimaud animal welfare body (ORBEA), a teacher at Laboratory Animal Science courses since 2009 and at Master courses since 2016. In the beginning of 2021, I joined the Executive Board of the Zebrafish Husbandry Association (ZHA). In parallel, I try to continue to be an active scientist, with published work on different zebrafish-related fields, including regeneration, husbandry and welfare, gene editing.

Testimony

Although I have been an external student, I had the opportunity to take part of several courses relevant not only for the specific work I was developing but also for my development as a scientist.
