Biosketch

My name is Marie Bordone. I am at the moment working as a Medical Science Liaison, at Roche Diagnostics. I started my academic journey at Universidade do Algarve in 2009, doing a Bachelor in Biomedical Sciences. After that, I decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in the same field, at the same university.

However, I had the chance to have an international experience during my master’s journey. I won an Erasmus Scholarship and as such, I had the possibility of doing my master thesis at the University of Reading, related to Parkinson’s disease. When I finished the master, I was fortunate to win one of the 10 scholarships of the LisbonBiomed Program. I started my PhD in 2015, under the supervision of Nuno Morais, and my work was related with transcriptomic data analysis of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases post-mortem brains.

Testimony

iMM is a vibrant community. I learned a lot as a scientist, but also as an individual since I had the opportuniy to be part of several extra-curricular activities that iMM has to offer. This allowed us to connect with different fellows that were doing their PhD in different fields, but that had a common goal: keeping iMM with that vibrant energy.
