Biosketch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I graduated from Instituto Superior T\u00e9cnico in early 2021 (would have been 2020 if it weren’t for Covid-caused delays), where I did my Integrated Masters in Biological Engineering. There I developed a solid background in the engineering world and could learn a great deal about the complex biological systems and their interactions within our world. I also realized during my studies that I was drawn to fields such as data analysis, bioinformatics, and biochemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testimony<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My experience with iMM started with a collaboration between the Institute and my University, called CoLabs. This was an internship that lasted for a semester and, afterwards, I had the chance to continue with my internship for the summer. Through this experience, I had the chance to work with Dr. Lu\u00edsa Figueiredo and Dr. Sara Silva Pereira, and learn a great deal about how to use bioinformatic tools to analyze large data sets, namely, transcriptomic data. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I experienced firsthand how the right tools and algorithms can make sense of a condensed dataset and bring to light important results, which could hint at future steps in the project. It was definitely an exciting task and it provided me with skills that I hope to carry with me in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
