Biosketch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My name is N\u00e1dia Correia. I am a Researcher with more than 10 years of experience in Cancer Biology. I always wanted to study cancer and produce knowledge that can improve people\u2019s lives. I finished in 2015 my Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences \u2013 Molecular and Cellular Biology by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2016 I moved to Heidelberg, (Germany) to do a postdoc in the Division of Stem Cells and Cancer at DKFZ. In my current position as Single Cell Genomics Scientist at t at TRON-Translational Oncology, in Mainz (Germany) I have gained expertise and interest in scRNAseq technology and its possibility to improve immunotherapy and cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testimony<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I joined IMM in late 2007 as a Research assistant in the group of Prof. Jo\u00e3o Barata, Signaling in Cancer. Then I pursued my PhD degree in the same lab, where I studied the transcription regulation and microRNAome aberrations in the context of T-cell leukemia. Over the 7 years, I spent in IMM I became a full Scientist and I grew as a person. My path crossed with numerous talented people from different backgrounds and nationalities, I made friendships for life, I learned the ethics in science, the importance of science communication and networking and so much more. One of the most inspiring aspects I took from that time was honestly the fact that iMM continuously had talented women in leadership and directing positions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn’t notice at the time, but as I moved around to many other European institutes I became aware that they were much more male dominated and that iMM actually had a good gender balance. Another aspect that mesmerized me at the time were the Out of the Box talks that covered other topics besides life sciences and had a lot of times on me a mindblowing effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
